How can you commit to happiness in the face of a challenging and sometimes violent world? Amy Weintraub, author of the best-selling book Yoga for Depression, will help you cultivate the compassionate inner space that allows you to embrace life's challenges with a peaceful mind and a courageous heart. In this inspiring workshop, you will learn and practice breathing exercises, easy postures, guided meditations, and other experiential yogic tools for managing your mood. You'll learn to strip away the obstacles that keep you from knowing the joy that is your birthright by practicing:

  • Pranayama and kriya breathing techniques that regulate the emotions
  • Meditations that lift the mood
  • Creating Affirmation (sankalpa)
  • Guided Visualizations (bhavana)
  • Tones that regulate the emotions (mantras)
  • A flow of Yoga asanas suitable for all levels

You'll leave feeling refreshed, renewed, and excited about your home practice with new tools to work with your mood. Psychotherapists and yoga teachers will learn techniques to help clients focus, relax, and have greater access to their feelings.

  • Continuing Education Credit for nurses, LMFT's, and LCSW's.
  • Qualifies for YTT 500. You must apply to the YTT 500 program before taking this class for credit.

Amy Weintraub, MFA, E-RYT 500, author of Yoga for Depression and founder and director of the LifeForce Yoga Healing Institute, directs LifeForce Yoga Practitioner Trainings for mental health professionals and yoga teachers and is a senior Kripalu teacher and mentor.
