How large is your PROPERTY and does it include hiking trails?

  • Answer: The property is 355 acres, and only a minority of it is developed. There are many hiking trails varying from quite easy to more challenging, and it is easy to get away from the developed area to beautiful redwood groves, meadows, and wonderful views, and quiet.

What ACTIVITIES and facilities are available?

  • Answer: yoga classes (some include breathing practices and meditation), hiking, hot tub, tennis court, cafe, book and gift store, massage and other bodywork, Ayurvedic store.

Are YOGA classes available?

  • Answer: Yes. They are free to registered guests. For a schedule, look at "Ongoing yoga classes" on the home page.

How can I arrange TRANSPORTATION from the airport?

  • Answer: go to the home page or www.mountmadonna.org/directions to see your options.

What is the closest AIRPORT?

  • Answer: San Jose (SJC) is a one-hour drive. San Francisco (SFO) is 30-45 minutes farther.

What are your RATES, and what do they include?

  • Answer: All rates are per person per day.

The following rates include meals, lodging, use of facilities:
Commuting (Day use, meals & facilities) $33
    Own Van $45
    Own Tent $45
Mount Madonna Center Tent (available June through October) $52
Double (2 to a room or cabin) $88
Double with Bath (2 to a room) $99
Single (1 to a room or cabin) $116
Single with Bath (1 to a room) $138

Can I be guaranteed a private room with BATH?

  • Answer: We only have about 10 rooms with bath on the property, and those are typically the first rooms reserved. If you register early enough for a program or personal retreat, you may get a room with private bath.

What are the shared BATHROOMS like?

  • Answer: Shared bathrooms are just down the hall from the hotel-type rooms, and are very private. In each bathroom, there are several separate toilet rooms, and shower rooms with sinks.

What is the difference between a CABIN and a room?

  • Answer: Cabins are in a lovely grove of oak trees and have electricity and heat, but no plumbing. A separate bathhouse with flush toilets and private shower rooms is nearby. The cabins are a 10-minute walk up the hill above the lake. If this sounds too rustic for you, please consider asking for a room. Rooms are in hotel-style buildings (no phones or TVs in rooms, however). Some rooms include a private bathroom with shower. Others have access to nearby shared bathrooms and showers.

What are your CANCELLATION policies?

  • Answer: Deposits are non-refundable and are not transferable to another person. For cancellations received at least 2 weeks before the program or personal retreat starts, the deposit less a $50 fee will be credited to any other program or personal retreat within one year. No credit is available for cancellations less than two weeks prior to the program start date, for no-shows, or for leaving an event early. Housing changes incur a $20 change fee.

How much do I pay upon REGISTRATION and upon arrival?

  • Answer: Typically, you pay a $100 deposit upon registration, and the balance upon arrival.

What housing options are available for PERSONAL RETREATS?

  • Answer: You can choose a single room (with or without private bath) or a double room (with or without private bath). You may also choose a single or double cabin. If you choose a double room or cabin, and you are coming alone, that means you are willing to have a roommate assigned to share the room with you.

Can I come TODAY?

  • Answer: We need 24 hours notice, so you would need to register before 4 p.m. the day before your arrival. This applies to day visitors also.

What is the MEAL schedule?

  • Answer: Sunday through Friday we serve 3 meals a day, with breakfast around 8 to 9, lunch from 12:30-1:30, and dinner 5 to 6 (except on Fridays 5:30-6:30). Saturdays there are 2 meals: brunch 10-11, and dinner 5-6, and a snack between.

Can you provide for people with SPECIAL DIETS?

  • Answer: We provide vegetarian meals, with non-dairy and non-gluten alternatives. We also strive to meet other special dietary needs, such as need for high protein or need to avoid certain things that spark allergies, to the best of our ability, but cannot guarantee that we will meet all special needs.

Can we bring/cook our own FOOD?

  • Answer: Food may not be brought to the Center.

Are your facilities HANDICAPPED accessible?

  • Answer:Yes, all major facilities are, and nearly all minor ones as well. Be sure to specify that need if it exists, so we can place you accordingly. We have rooms with and without bath, and accessible public restrooms.

What do you do about SNORERS?

  • Answer: If you are a snorer, please request a single room or cabin. If you are worried about someone in your room who might snore, we suggest wearing earplugs (provided), or waking the snorer. We will make an attempt to change your lodging the next day if you find yourself in a room with a snorer, but cannot guarantee that it would be possible; no changes can be made in the middle of the night.

Do you accommodate CHILDREN?

  • Answer: Yes, children are most welcome. There is no charge for children before their 2nd birthday. Children age 2-12 are 1/2 price (meals and lodging only).

Do you provide LAUNDRY facilities?

  • Answer: We regret that we are unable to provide on-site laundry facilities, due to scarce water resources. There is a commercial laundry service with pick-up on Thursdays with delivery of clean clothes on Saturdays.

What are your RULES?

  • Answer: Quiet hours are 9 pm to breakfast. We do not allow alcohol, illegal drugs, or pets. We do not allow smoking except in designated areas.

Can we bring PETS?

  • Answer: No.

Can I do WORK/EXCHANGE?

  • Answer: It is possible, if you let us know upon registering, and we have enough advance notice for scheduling to happen.

Can we meet BABA HARI DASS?

  • Answer: Babaji is increasingly frail and his daily activities are very limited such that we do not expect him to be able to return to MMC or PCC.
