Let Kamalesh introduce you to the Guatemala she has come to know and love! Spend 9 days and 8 nights exploring Guatemala and the beauty she has to offer. Visit small villages and a Mayan ruin. Integrate both Yoga and Ayurveda into your daily routine as well as  

  • Experience the beauty of La Antigua Guatemala, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
  • Stay in a small village founded in 1547 where you will tour the first monastery of the Americas.  
  • Explore colonial churches and local markets.
  • Practice yoga daily through the lens of Ayurveda: pranayama, asana, meditation.
  • Enjoy Ayurvedically inspired vegetarian meals prepared with fresh, organic, local produce.
  • Integrate the days’ experiences each evening with short talks and discussions.
  • Learn more about Ayurveda and how to apply it to daily life.    

Tuition:  $600 (payable in advance to Mount Madonna Center)

Lodging, meals, excursions and Incidentals: $700 (payable upon arrival in Guatemala; Visa or Mastercard, check or cash) includes eight nights stay (shared accommodations) at Casa San Juan – Posada – Yoga – Ayurveda, airport transfer (on arrival only), all local tours and travel, all meals except one dinner in Antigua.   

$1300 total cost.   Airfare is not included (prices may vary between $500-$700 round trip).

Kamalesh Ginger Hooven, MA Ayurveda, Ayurveda Yoga Therapist, E-RYT 500, Chair of Mount Madonna Institute’s School of Yoga and instructor in the College of Ayurveda.  You will be able to see Guatemala through the eyes of someone who has lived there for over 30 years and very much feels a part of the culture. Kamalesh has been teaching yoga for 18 years and training teachers since 2004.  Her private practice of Yoga Therapy and her consistent study of Ayurveda informs her lifestyle and her teaching. When in Guatemala, you will often find her at her restaurant, Cafe Condesa, located on the Central Park of Antigua.

For cancellations received at least 2 weeks before the program starts, the deposit less a $100 fee will be credited to any other program within one year. No credit is available for cancellations less than two weeks prior to the program start date, for no-shows, or for leaving an event early.

Kamalesh Ginger Hooven

Ginger Kamalesh Hooven, Ayurvedic Practitioner, MA Ayurveda (NAMA); Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT); and E-RYT 500 (YA) has been teaching in the Mount Madonna Center/Institute Yoga Teacher Trainings since 2004. She began her studies with Baba Hari Dass in 2003 after having completed a 700-hour Yoga Teacher Training with the Yoga Research and Education Center led by Georg Feuerstein. Kamalesh’s ongoing study of western Anatomy & Physiology enrich her approach to the outward limbs of yoga and the Ayurvedic view of the human being.
